The Goods and Services Tax (GST) in India is an all-encompassing, multi-level, destination-oriented tax implemented on the incremental value of goods and services throughout the supply chain. This tax system, which came into effect on July 1, 2017, following the 101st Amendment of the Indian Constitution, aimed to streamline the myriad of indirect taxes previously imposed by both central and state governments into a singular tax framework.
